BRIAN ELLIS FNEA Brian trained as a teacher of English, Speech and Drama at Trent Park (now Middlesex University). He taught English and Drama in a North London Secondary School for three years, and then entered the Theatre in 1962. He gained extensive experience in Repertory at Northampton, Newcastle, Glasgow City, St Andrews (as an actor and Director), Dundee (Director), Leatherhead, Salisbury, Westcliff, Derby and Colchester (actor and Associate Director for three years). His credits in the West End include: “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Daisy Pulls it Off”, “Annie”, “Treasure Island”, “Beyond Reasonable Doubt”, “Always” and “Leonardo”. He has appeared as Guest Artiste in “My Fair Lady” as Henry Higgins in Cleveland, Ohio, USA; also as Sherlock Holmes in “Baker Street” and Fagin in “Oliver”. He has worked in a range of both Television and Radio Drama over the years. He is a Trustee of Florida State University London Study Centre and frequently lectures on British Theatre. He also lectures at Tufts University, London Centre and Richmond College. He is Director of the Actors’ Centre, London. He has examined for New Era since 1980, and was subsequently invited to become a Director. He was Chairman of the Board from 1996 until 2008. |
