Learning Outcomes
Learners should:
- communicate effectively and with meaning
- demonstrate appropriate use of phrasing
- demonstrate the vocal changes necessary to convey meaning expressively
- understand the importance of using clear speech
Marks at this level include:
Pronunciation: 20 marks
Intonation: 20 marks
Phrasing: 20 marks
Grade 1 (10 Minutes)
Learners should:
- Read aloud a passage of prose of their own choice. Time limit 2 minutes (20 marks)
- Discuss with the examiner the story (20 marks)
Grade 2 (10 Minutes)
Learners should:
- Read aloud a letter they have written to a friend. Time limit 2 minutes (20 marks)
- Discuss with the examiner the importance of clear speech (20 marks)
Grade 3 Foundation Medal (10 Minutes)
Learners should:

Present a short talk about:
- School
- Their Culture or
- Work. Time limit 2 minutes (20 marks)
- Talk with the examiner about the effective use of phrasing (20 marks)
