Learning Outcomes
Learners should:
- demonstrate an awareness of the type of audience and be able to adapt, respond and react accordingly
- use notes confidently but discreetly
- keep notes to a minimum
- show an ability to state their own opinions confidently
- aim to present work which is both personal and original
- read fluently
Grade 4 (15 Minutes)
Marks awarded at this grade include:
Speech: 20 marks
Learners should:

Deliver a speech on ONE of the following subjects:
- Superstitions
- The influence of music
- Bird watching
- Colours. Time limit 5 minutes 50 marks)
- Read at sight a passage of prose (15 marks)
- Converse with the examiner briefly on a topic suggested by the examiner (15 marks)
Grade 5 Intermediate Medal (15 Minutes)
The Ronald Marsh Certificate of Excellence is awarded annually to the learner gaining the highest Distinction mark in this examination.
Marks awarded at this grade include:
Speec: 20 marks
Learners should:

Deliver a speech on ONE of the following subjects:
- Discovering one’s ancestors
- Saints and Angels
- Gardens
- Alternative medicine. Time limit 5 minutes (50 marks)
- Read at sight a passage of prose (15 marks)
- Reply to a question addressed to the speaker arising from the prepared speech (15 marks)
