KAYE TOPPING SMITH

LGSM MSTSD

As an actor Kaye began theatre work in the London fringe, moved into Theatre in Education with Brian Way`s Theatre Centre company, followed by stage and film work in England and Canada.  In Vancouver, she was a founder member and first Producer of The Sepia Players.

Kaye has taught in schools on the South Coast and London and was a Voice Coach at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London. Her private practice includes the business sector and individuals in London and Brighton.  She is a Tutor for Voice Care Network UK (VCN) and enjoys co-operating with Lesley Hendy another VCN Tutor, in providing Voice care for teachers in West Sussex.

For over twenty years Kaye examined for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and had the privilege and enjoyment of examining not only in Britain and Ireland, but Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.   Last year she was delighted to accept an invitation to join the Board of NEA Examinations.

She enjoys being a Trustee of Springboard Ltd – Brighton & Hove Performing Arts Festival.  As a Member of our Professional body, The Society of Teachers of Speech and Drama (STSD), Kaye has played an active role in developing the Conferences as she believes these events help to keep teachers and examiners stimulated and up-to-date with current ideas in our field.

Kaye has recently been appointed Vice Chairman of The STSD and is a Member of the British Voice Association and Equity.
