KIM ISMAY
Kim graduated from university with a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts, and very soon afterwards gained her Equity card. Encouraged by her mother, the late Ellen Ismay, she became involved with New Era, as a student, as a teacher, as a performer and as an examiner. During the late 1990’s she followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a Director of New Era. She is currently the Editor of the New Era Newsletter. A natural linguist she has worked all over the world including Hong Kong and Australia. She is a trained dancer and started at the age of 3; she was able to show off her fancy footwork when she played the tap-dancing vocal coach in Singin’ in the Rain. She has appeared in the theatre, on television and radio, and regularly sings in her one-woman cabaret. She has appeared on a number of albums and has also released her own solo album. Kim has a wide variety of credits to her name, as an accomplished actor, singer and dancer. She is equally at home with serious and comedy roles, and her talent for mimicry and dialects makes her very versatile in both fields. Kim has recently appeared as Maxine in Stepping Out at Derby Playhouse, and as Miss Bonnie in the national tour of Victoria Wood's Acorn Antiques -The Musical. Prior to this she spent a happy three years as Tanya in Mamma Mia! at the Prince of Wales and Prince Edward theatres in the West End of London, followed by 8 weeks with the International Tour in Edinburgh. She is currently playing the Baroness in the national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. She is also a talented cartoonist, and when time allows she takes commissions for artwork. She is the Patron of the children’s cancer charity Momentum. |
