What a good day on

What a good day on Saturday. Great to meet with other teachers and to hear what examiners think. Teaching in a small school can a be lonely experience professionally and I think these days are so important to upskill and share ideas.

Thank you to everyone – I thought Sheila and Aisling were superb!

A very enjoyable and helpful

A very enjoyable and helpful day. Shelagh and her daughter, Aisling, presented their work (V&P Grades 4 and 5) with much humour and insight. The resources presented both on the day and subsequently by email were fantastic. NEA certainly seem to be ahead of the game in terms of enabling their teachers. Thank you to you all, and I look forward to your next Professional Development Day.

Professional Development Day -7th January 2017

An excellent day to meet old colleagues and make new friends. To share creative ideas and skills. To enhance the ones we already have. To know that we are doing the right thing in providing life skills for the young people of today that are tomorrow’s future.
Thank you Sheila O’Brien, Miranda Jacobs and New Era Academy for moving everyone towards a five star goal in achievements.

The recent NEA Training Day

The recent NEA Training Day in London (7th Jan) was absolutely excellent from start to finish. The day was engaging, entertaining and enlightening and I left with lots of new teaching ideas and resources. All materials provided during the day had clearly been subject to a huge amount of preparation and they were expertly presented!
I will most definitely be attending further Professional Development Days with NEA.

Thank you also to Miranda, Julia and Eveline!

Changing Exam Board

After 25 years of training and putting through 1000’s of children through their Drama examinations I decided to take a big leap and change Examination boards… I held my breathe and went for it…. But I am so very glad I did… Unusually exam day was a pleasure, each child came out and said “ She said I did really well” and with a smile of their faces… This smile said it all.. I am so glad I made the leap.. New Era made the whole process simple and straight forward. From the moment I booked my exam session to receiving the results in 3 days…. Yes you heard me right… 3 days.. Not only was I pleasantly surprised but the children were delighted.. They worked hard and New Era made sure the whole process was rewarding.. I would highly recommend to anyone that is dissatisfied with their current board .. take look at New Era Examinations….. The Curriculum is challenging the report sheets give great criticism to help us as teachers and the process was faultless.. Well Done New Era!

Professional Development Day – Ireland

Just a short email to congratulate New Era on a most informative and dynamic workshop, expertly delivered by Shelagh O’ Brien.

As both a teacher and an Examiner, I was captivated from start to finish, with her wealth of experience and practical input into the day.
This is an amazing opportunity for all teachers and examiners to come together and share our strengths, which can only improve the quality of our teaching.
I look forward to many more.

Professional Development Day – Ireland – 3rd November 2016

I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you and Shelagh for a fantastic Professional Development Day in Omagh. From the outset it was slick, engaging and highly informative. As a teacher it not gave me an insight from the examiner’s point of view but I came away with a wealth of practical advice and ideas for teaching grades 4 and 5.

I have only one request after today-more days like this please!

Anne and I are absolutely delighted at the appointment of Mrs O’Brien as Chief Examiner. As past pupils we know how knowledgeable she is and her vast experience is highly admirable.

We enjoyed the course today as Mrs O’Brien delivered as expected a very informative and interesting presentation. We look forward to more of these courses to come.

Speech and Drama

I find that taking speech and drama lessons helps me greatly with my understanding of English and English literature. Studying the theory of Speech and Drama broadens my knowledge of the English language and how it is constructed. Preparation for certain Speech and Drama exams allows me to explore the lives and work of a diverse range of poets, authors and playwrights in detail, adding to my appreciation of literature.
