NEA's Syllabus is Broad, Varied and Comprehensive
New Era Academy takes pride in its comprehensive syllabus, that is designed to provide a firm learning base to aspiring learners and actors.Â
Our progressive examination system enhances student learning, interpersonal abilities, and communicational skills. We aim to nurture their natural abilities along with polishing their creative skills. Our examinations develop a love for literature, music, poetry, and drama, improving the high standards of communication and performance.

A Fee Structure for All Formats and Combinations
New Era Academy offers a comprehensive fee structure that ensures we are able to provide highly qualified and proficient examiners, fast results, and useful, individualised examination reports for each learner. We understand that studying art, drama, and theatre skills is an incredible experience for learners, parents, and teachers alike and we are thankful to have created a community that shares our philosophy of personalised interactions to help young people become the very best they can be. Therefore, it is important to us that we are able to deliver the highest standard of examinations whilst maintaining reasonable fees.

NOTES:
- Each Exam Session has a minimum fee of £450.
- Diploma Level 4-5 Exams are not eligible for Medal awards.
- We are no longer offering Level 5 in order to streamline academic progress
- *NEW* Speech and Drama Teachers Level 4 allows you to teach up to Grade 5
- *NEW* Shakespeare Level 4 available
- You will not have to repeat or pay for the practical section of Speech and Drama Level 6 if you have successfully completed Speech and Drama Teachers Level 4
- You will not have to repeat or pay for the practical section of Public Speaking Level 6 if you have successfully completed Public Speaking Level 4

NEA Syllabus for 2023 to 2026 UK Academic Years
In April’23 we launched our new Exams Syllabus for the 2023-2026 UK academic years for our renowned NEA Communications Exams and NEA Performance exams.
The syllabus is a source of the course outline for learners providing a conceptual framework to learners so they can prepare themselves for the examination and know what is expected. It provides all information regarding the course outline, basic information, student responsibilities, grading system, and the type of exams learners can expect.
New Era Academy provides aspiring learners a solid base to prepare for better performance while giving them creative freedom to express their skills and talent through their performance in different exams.
New Era Academy updates its current course outlines and revises its syllabus every three years to ensure they keep evolving towards betterment.
Each exam is assigned a level following the regulated qualifications framework (RQF). They start from the initial preparatory stage to the advanced level. Learners can earn UCAS tariff points, allowing learners to apply for a course of study at a UK university or other higher education institution.

Communication Exams Syllabus for 2023 - 2026
New Era Academy offers a communication examination system to assess and analyse learners’ communication skills. The communication syllabus is designed for learners to focus on practical and creative tasks and evaluate candidates’ skills in their respective fields.
The communication exams for each discipline focus on learners’ abilities to communicate their ideas, listen, assimilate information, and respond appropriately. Our courses focus on both literary performances, like in Drama and theatre, and prepare the learners to focus on creative and practical tasks in real-life situations.
The communication syllabus is developed for learners to develop invaluable communication skills and confidence and to prepare them to progress in both the educational and professional arena.
The key purpose of these exams is to develop:
- Interpersonal qualities
- Verbal and non-verbal communication
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Presentation and performance
- Planning and research

Performance Exams Syllabus for 2023 - 2026
New Era Academy provides a range of performance assessment programmes for learners, aspiring actors, and performers. Learners can begin their journey toward different performing art disciplines. The performing art courses offer eight subjects, including some disciplines like Mime, Acting, Musical theatre, Creative Movement, and Shakespeare. The syllabus of each discipline covers the broadest range of contemporary performance and theatre-making. The syllabus is designed to:
- Cover a range of performing art and theatre making.
- Develop imagination and creativity.
- Develop acting, vocal techniques, and physical stage techniques in learners.
- Encourage the development of verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Promote research skills and self-reflection.
- Learn to use and apply chosen skills: poetry, singing, mime, or dance.
- Understand and engage with the materials.
- Promote the natural progression from the preparatory stage to grade 8 exams, or teaching diplomas.
- Support candidates to bring out their creative outcome-making interpretive choices.
- Research and plan the roles, scenes, and pieces using their creativity to interpret them and present them in performance exams.
- Develop a love of art, music, drama, and theatre in learners.

Group Exams Syllabus for 2023 - 2026
Group performances provide a unique opportunity for learners to learn their craft whilst learning the dynamics of working together as a team. New Era Academy’s syllabus provides different group formats that learners can work in for their Grade examinations
- Regulated Group Exams
- Groups of 3 or 4 learners, all at the same Grade
- Groups of 5 or more learners (no maximum) and learners can be at different Grades
- Each performer in the group will be awarded individual marks
- Unregulated Group Exams (not regulated by Ofqual or CCEA)
- Groups can be of any size and any combination of Grades
- The Group performance will be awarded one mark per group
Group Exams are assessed by our Examiners so that the individual learners will receive a certificate with the Group Grade marks. However, there are no medal awards for the Group exams syllabus.

NEA Diploma Syllabus for ANEA and LNEA Certifications
New Era Academy Diplomas and our Teaching Diploma are well respected and immediately recognised for the consistently high standards of our Diploma Syllabus and examination protocols. The qualification is fully regulated by Ofqual.
We also award, at the discretion of the NEA Board, the designation of FNEA – Fellow of New Era Academy.

New Era Academy has created a very comprehensive set of Syllabi that overarches 15 Examination Grades, and 23 Disciplines for solo, duo, or group performers, across Communication Exams, Performance Exams, and Creative Movement within a 7-level Specification framework.Â
